Binder filing

I use a binder to file my coupons. Yes, I believe it is probably more time consuming at home, but I feel that in the long run it saves on time in the actual store. And since I have a young toddler, shopping trips can sometimes be a little interesting to say the least! I also like this method more because if I need something that isn't in the ad or its not advertised, I have my coupons right there with me. An example of this was today, I was at Target and thought I would see if I could get our dog any treats. Sure enough!! I had a buy one get one free beggin strips, plus there was a $1 off 2 peelie! I got 6 bags of 6 oz treats for $6. They normally cost around $3 a piece.

Here are the different categories I use. I try to file them as the grocery store is set up. I don't know that you definitely need to do it this way, just figure out a way that works for you. I also like to have them be a little specific so it's easier to find if need be:

Baking (I file anything that is found in the baking section)
Canned (Anything canned or condiments or salad dressings, anything that is on this isle or close)
Cereal (or anything breakfast related)
Snacks
--Candy, Trailmix, jello, popcorn
--granola bars, fruit snacks
--beverages
--Chips/Crackers
--Other
Meat
Refrigerated
--Yogurt
--Pillsbury
--Dairy-cheese, butter, etc.
Household
--Toilet Paper, Paper Towels, Kleenex
--Cleaning supplies (I also put air fresheners here)
--Paper Products (ziploc bags, tinfoil, wax paper, paper cups, plates, etc.)
--Laundry
--Kitchen soap (I also put hand soap here but not Body Wash)
--Other (I file batteries, lint rollers, light bulb, etc. Random household things)
Health and Beauty
--Toothbrush/Toothpaste
--Hair color
--Feminine products
--Deodorant
--Shaving
--Makeup
--Shampoo/Conditioner
--Body Wash/soap
--Lotions
--Other (I put facial cleansers, treatments, etc.)
Frozen
Baby
Pasta/Rice
Produce (on rare occasions we do get produce coupons)
Medicine
Non-Food misc
Pet

**I know there are a lot of categories and sub categories, but like I said, this is what works for me. Find what works for you and if you need to experiment a little, make adjustments down the road. I had too. I didn't have all the subcategories and it drove me nuts so that is why I have so many!!

Good Luck! Happy couponing!
